Gastrosophy
March 7 - 15, 2014, Jackson Power, Edmonton, AB, Canada
Gastrosophy, which means the art of good eating, explores the social, political and cultural functions of food. Using a diverse set of media, seven artists deal with themes ranging from the rituals of preparation and consumption to issues related to global production and distribution. Ultimately, the question that binds all of these artists together is: “what is our relationship to food today”.
Viewers are invited to come out and taste the art at the opening reception, which will also feature a special performance by the Zhao family making Northern style Chinese dumplings.
Participating Artists:
Mackenzy Albright & Rachelle Bowen
Chelsea Boos
Robert Harpin
Jeffrey Klassen
Sergio Serrano
Marc Siegner
Curator:
Olivia Chow
Writing:
